In our society, too, a record number of people, primarily young, struggle with mental health problems. Studies have shown that 1 in 5 people suffers from a mental health problem.
Regarding mental health problems, we have two kinds of understanding. First, we tend to treat it as not a health issue at all. Second, we pose a discriminatory attitude towards the one who battles a war within their mind. Due to these social stigmas, people tend to limit the problem to themselves. As a result, they are deprived of mental health counselling and other welfare.
Remember, Mental health problems are as normal and severe as other health problems. Therefore, they need to be shared, heard, accepted, and aided.
So, let’s take this opportunity to check in on the ones we love, ask how they are doing, and check in with ourselves!!!
Please remember, it is okay to ask for help and know you are not alone!!! And you are not weird or strange or different just because you struggle with mental health!
If you're in a crisis and need to talk right now, there are many helplines operated by several health institutions that are ready to listen. They won't judge you and could help you make sense of your feelings.
